Good morning!
Summer is in full swing across Minnesota, and I've enjoyed spending time throughout the district meeting with residents, attending local events, and hearing directly about the issues that matter most to our communities. While the legislative session has concluded, there is still plenty of work being done to address the challenges facing our state and prepare for the months ahead. In this update, you'll find news from around the district, recent developments at the Capitol, and highlights from the people and organizations that make our communities such great places to live, work, and raise a family.

Another Major Fraud Case Highlights Need for Accountability
Federal authorities recently announced charges against two Minnesota residents accused of operating a $21 million Medicaid fraud scheme that allegedly ran from 2020 through 2024. According to investigators, the defendants submitted fraudulent claims through autism treatment providers participating in Minnesota's Early Intensive Developmental and Behavioral Intervention (EIDBI) program, resulting in more than $21 million in improper Medicaid payments.
While the details of this case are still working their way through the courts, the allegations fit a pattern Minnesotans have seen far too often in recent years. From Feeding Our Future to numerous investigations involving Medicaid, housing stabilization services, and other publicly funded programs, the state has repeatedly found itself at the center of large-scale fraud cases involving taxpayer dollars.
These cases raise serious questions about oversight and whether state agencies are doing enough to identify suspicious activity before millions of dollars are lost. In many instances, the fraud continued for years before being detected, allowing bad actors to exploit programs intended to serve vulnerable Minnesotans.
That is why House Republicans made fraud prevention and accountability a priority during the 2026 legislative session. We pushed for stronger oversight measures, tougher penalties for individuals who steal taxpayer dollars, and reforms designed to improve transparency and strengthen safeguards within state programs. Taxpayers deserve confidence that public funds are being spent as intended, and those who knowingly defraud government programs should face serious consequences.
As additional investigations continue and more cases come to light, it is becoming increasingly clear that Minnesota needs a more aggressive approach to preventing, detecting, and prosecuting fraud. Protecting taxpayer dollars and preserving the integrity of programs that serve Minnesotans must remain a top priority.

Remembering D-Day
This Saturday marks the anniversary of D-Day, June 6, 1944, when Allied forces launched the largest amphibious invasion in history on the beaches of Normandy, France. The operation marked a turning point in World War II and began the liberation of Western Europe from Nazi occupation.
As we remember the more than 150,000 Allied troops who took part in the invasion, we also honor the courage, sacrifice, and determination of the generation that defended freedom during one of history's darkest periods. Their service changed the course of the war and helped secure the liberties we enjoy today.
On this anniversary, we pause to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who served and to express our gratitude to the veterans and military families who have answered the call to serve our nation.
