Hello Neighbors,
It is hard to believe that it's already March! I hope you enjoyed the end of the ice fishing season last weekend, and are looking forward to spring weather and activities. Congratulations to our local athletes who wrapped up their sports seasons in the last few weeks, competed in sections, and made it to state. Special shoutout to the Aitkin Northern Lakes Lightning boy's hockey team for making it to the state tournament this week! It was a great winter sport season.
I have been very busy recently, drafting and working on legislation related to local aviation. The goal of my aviation bills is to strengthen Minnesota’s airport network and protect local control. I have introduced HF3266 to provide $100,000 for small airports to maintain and repair courtesy vehicles, which are often the only reliable ground transportation option for pilots and visitors in rural communities. These vehicles play a small but important role in keeping airports accessible and welcoming.
In addition, I am in the process of drafting legislation to create special aviation license plates to help support aeronautics programs, prohibit the state from imposing fuel restrictions on airports so local officials can manage their own fuel supply, and expand support for small airport infrastructure. General aviation is vital to economic development, agriculture, business travel, and emergency response across our state. I am committed to championing policies that keep Minnesota’s aviation system strong, locally driven, and competitive.
I look forward to keeping the momentum going here in St. Paul, working on this aviation legislation and so much more. Thank you for your continued support and trust in me. I will share updates on these bills as I have them.
BTW: By the way, check out a local fish fry today! Some options include AYCE deep fried Polluck at the 40 Club or Herbies Bar.
Also, check out the 47th Annual Massed Band Concert at Little Falls HS on Monday.
