MINNESOTANS DESERVE BETTER: Gov. Walz Failed—Now It’s Time for Voters to Judge
ST. PAUL – In light of recent reporting and mounting evidence of systemic fraud under Gov. Tim Walz’s administration, Representative Erica Schwartz`(R–Nicollet) is calling on Minnesotans to ask a simple question this election season: Do we want a government that serves the people—or one that enables corruption?
A scathing new report in The New York Times—titled “How Fraud Swamped Minnesota’s Social Services System on Tim Walz’s Watch”—confirms what many Minnesotans have already suspected: over the last five years, fraudulent actors exploited social-services and Medicaid programs under state administration, funneling millions in taxpayer dollars into sham nonprofits and nonexistent companies.
Meanwhile, the state continues to block full transparency. On Monday, the Star Tribune reported that the administration refuses to release records of Medicaid providers under investigation—even though the public has a right to know who’s being accused and why.
Under Gov. Walz’s watch, Minnesota has suffered:

Countless families have been failed by social-service programs they believed would help them.

Billions in taxpayer dollars have vanished, while oversight collapsed.

Trust in state government has eroded—and with it, confidence in our safety net and core institutions.
Governor Walz claimed he “deserves credit” for putting fraudsters in jail—a political dodge at best. The fact is that many criminal convictions have come through federal prosecutions, not from state-level accountability. The administration’s job was to safeguard public trust—and it failed.
Representative Schwartz said:
“Minnesotans are being betrayed. Families are overtaxed, homeowners are crushed, and our most vulnerable are left exposed to fraud. Meanwhile, the people in charge have prioritized optics over oversight and political theater over protecting taxpayer dollars. This is not leadership—it’s a dereliction of duty. Minnesotans deserve a government that actually works for them.”
As voters prepare to head to the polls in 2026, the choice is clear: continue down a path of broken promises and hidden fraud, or elect leaders who will restore accountability, transparency, and integrity.
