Legislative Update
As we head toward the end of the year, I’ve been reflecting on the conversations I’ve had with so many of you. From town halls to emails and quick chats at local events, you’ve been clear about what matters most: affordability, safety, strong schools, clean water, and supporting the quality of life that makes our communities special. I’m taking all of that with me as we prepare for the 2026 session, and I want to keep you updated on the work happening right now.
Property Taxes In Your Backyard
Across the district, rising property taxes continue to be one of the top priorities landing in my inbox and discussed in the community. Some families are seeing increases as high as 25 percent. That kind of jump makes it harder for young buyers to enter the market and pushes seniors away from the homes they love.
Decisions at the state and county level over the last two years are creating a real pressure point for so many. The state spent an $18 billion surplus and raised taxes by another $10 billion. Hennepin County is not helping address these increases, and now homeowners are paying the price.
I introduced a property tax reform plan that would cap increases, expand the homestead exemption, and create a more affordable path for families and our seniors. You can read more about that approach in this piece from Session Daily.
November Town Hall
Thank you to everyone who joined me for my tenth town hall of the year. These meetings help me stay grounded in your priorities heading into session. Even when our neighbors have differing views on certain topics, it’s clear our district shares a strong commitment to safe neighborhoods and roads, quality schools, clean water infrastructure, access to the outdoors, stopping fraud, and supporting the men and women who keep our communities safe.
MnSEIA Energy Award
I was honored to receive the MnSEIA Distinguished Policy Leadership Award this year. My goal has always been to support a balanced energy mix that keeps costs down and reliability strong. Families, grocery stores, small businesses, and local transportation all depend on consistent and affordable energy. The more we can do to bring overall costs down, the more it will impact everyday costs of goods and services. I’ll continue working to support those priorities.

Builder’s Town Hall
Housing affordability is one of the challenges facing young families and long-time residents. We need more options, and the people who build those homes have valuable insight. The Suburban Solutions Caucus will be hosting a Builder’s Town Hall focused on practical solutions and reducing barriers so we can expand housing choices across our communities. We want to create that partnerships with the boots on the ground so we can create meaningful solutions and protect the character of our communities.

Poll Question
In early November, I asked, “Would you support a Winter Outdoor License Plate that features snowmobiling and ice fishing, with proceeds dedicated to improving trails and protecting clean water?”
-
74% would support this initiative;
-
18% would not support it;
This Week’s Question

Report Fraud!
Minnesota has lost an estimated $2 billion to fraud, money meant to help vulnerable Minnesotans and fund your top priorities. We can’t afford to let it continue. If you’ve seen or experienced fraud in state programs, make a confidential report at MNFraud.com and help us protect taxpayer dollars.
