Rep. Gillman Congratulates Ridgewater Agriculture Equipment Mechanic Program on National Recognition
ST. PAUL, MN – Representative Dawn Gillman (R–Dassel) is celebrating Ridgewater College’s Agriculture Equipment Mechanic program for being named the National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE) Outstanding Post-Secondary Program for Region 3.
“This is such a proud moment for our community,” Gillman said. “The folks at Ridgewater aren’t just teaching technical skills—they’re shaping hardworking, humble leaders who will keep America’s heartland moving. When you pair great instructors with motivated students, you get results like this.”
The NAAE Region 3 award spans Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Nebraska, honoring programs that go the extra mile to prepare students for the future. Ridgewater’s Ag Equipment Mechanic program stood out for its hands-on learning, strong partnerships with industry, and unwavering commitment to student success.
Instructors Jon Barka, Erik Hoff, and Randy Barka have been recognized for creating a learning environment where students gain real-world experience while building the confidence to thrive in the agriculture industry. The program began in 2017, received its current name in 2024, and achieved formal accreditation that same year.
“Here in Minnesota, agriculture isn’t just an industry—it’s a way of life,” Gillman added. “Ridgewater’s program is proof that when we invest in people and their potential, the ripple effects are felt across farms, families, and communities. I’m so proud to see them shine on the national stage.”
The instructors will be honored at the NAAE Conference in Nashville, TN, this December.
