Out on Lake Superior
Maria and I had a nice time at the 3rd Annual ‘Out on Lake Superior’ event, hosted by Better in Our Back Yard. We heard from Congressman Pete Stauber, Congressman Tom Tiffany, and representatives from new mining prospects across our region that will bolster our future in the Northland. Thank you to all who made this event possible and attended with us!

Happy Retirement, Dody!
It was an honor to attend a retirement party for my friend and co-worker, Dody Evenson recently. A huge shout-out to his wife Jen, who put together a great party and invited a wonderful group of friends to celebrate with! Dody closed his working career at Minntac these last 15 years, and I'm so glad he did. I worked in a planning role for a decade, and he started in an adjacent role not long after, but in our pelletizing facility. It was always enjoyable to work with Dody, and we will miss him!

Pan Continental Curling Championships 2025 Preparation
Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to speak at the Iron Trail Motors Event Center. United States Steel, where I have worked for over 29 years, is the title sponsor for the 2025 Pan Continental Curling Championships. This competition will take place from October 19-26th, and will bring over 300 athletes and coaches from around the world into our region. This competition will showcase our Ranger hospitality, and our world-class facilities to the world and is a first of its kind event in Minnesota. Thank you to all the sponsors and volunteers that are coordinating this event; I look forward to attending several games!

Catching Up in St. Paul
While in St. Paul this week, I enjoyed the chance to get lunch with my daughter, Isabelle, who frequently is working in the Metro area. This summer has kept me busy, so I appreciate the chances I get to spend time with family.
