Republican Leaders Call Out Chaos and Waste in Walz Administration
ST. PAUL, MN. — Earlier this week, Alpha News obtained details of a new hiring policy at the Minnesota Department of Human Services requiring written justification to hire a candidate who does not come from an underrepresented group — or face disciplinary action.
This comes days after the Department of Education terminated a high ranking employee after it was revealed that the individual was a convicted sex offender who had been ordered to be removed from the country multiple times following a criminal sexual conduct conviction in 2014, along with a Star Tribune report that Gov. Walz paid $430,000 of taxpayer dollars in to a private firm to prepare for a U.S. House Oversight Committee hearing.
House Speaker Lisa Demuth, R-Cold Spring, and Floor Leader Harry Niska, R-Ramsey, issued the following statement reacting to the week’s events:
“This week, Minnesotans saw exactly what happens when state government loses focus and accountability. The Department of Human Services is forcing illegal hiring quotas that prioritize ideology over qualifications, the Department of Education hired a convicted sex offender who had been ordered deported, and Governor Walz wasted $430,000 in taxpayer money on PR consultants to prepare for a congressional hearing.
Taxpayers deserve a government that is fair, competent, and responsible. Instead, they’re getting chaos and mismanagement. Minnesotans deserve better.”
