Legislative Update
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I hope you're enjoying the start of summer! As we await the official call for a special session from the Governor’s office, I wanted to take a moment to provide a few important updates and highlights from around the district.
Highway 7 Safety Improvements
Last week, I had the opportunity to meet with the Minnesota Department of Transportation to discuss much-needed safety upgrades to Highway 7. Thank you to Ryan Wilson and Faith Xiong for helping outline key areas of concern and potential solutions to improve traffic flow and safety along the corridor. With rapid growth in western Hennepin County, it’s critical that we stay ahead of these infrastructure needs.
I’m continuing to advocate for House File 2657, which would provide dedicated funding to support improvements along this busy corridor. I’ll keep working with our local leaders and neighbors to elevate this priority.

Question of the Week: Healthcare for Undocumented Immigrants
There’s been growing debate at the Capitol over Minnesota’s spending on healthcare for undocumented immigrants. With the state staring down a $6 billion deficit, this week’s question is:
Should Minnesota taxpayers fund healthcare for all undocumented immigrants, only for children under 18, or not at all?
Last Week’s Results: Over 250 people responded to the question about whether teens age 15–18 should be required to wear helmets while riding e-bikes. A whopping 96% said yes. Thanks to everyone who weighed in!
Listening and Learning from the Classroom
Education policy and funding are a priority for Minnesotans, and that is why I continue my efforts to create solutions in education. I had the privilege of visiting Wayzata East Middle School, where Ms. Dietzenbach graciously invited me to speak with her students about public service and the importance of civic engagement. It was a fantastic reminder that the best policymaking starts with listening.
That’s why I’m continuing to advocate for my bipartisan bill, House File 412, which would require lawmakers to spend at least 12 hours every two years in Minnesota classrooms, learning directly from our educators, staff, administrators, and students.
Clean Water Progress: Keep It Clean
|
Maintaining and investing in clean water and our environment continue to be a priority that brings every Minnesotan together. I’m excited to share that my Clean Water Infrastructure Initiative (HF 1120) was included in the Environment Bill! This builds on the success of last session’s bipartisan Keep It Clean law, which is already making a noticeable difference in reducing trash on our lakes and frozen waterways all across Minnesota. The support of organizations like Conservation Minnesota, Keep It Clean Coalition, Clean Water Action, MN-FISH, and dozens of lake associations around the state made this possible.
This next step will help fund enforcement and infrastructure so local lake associations, cities, and counties can continue protecting our natural resources. I’m hopeful this bill will move forward during the special session. Special thanks to Tonka Living for spotlighting this work!

Wrapping Up the School Year
As the school year comes to a close, I want to give a heartfelt thank you to all the teachers, staff, administrators, and school nurses who give so much to support our kids. Your dedication is felt in every classroom and every student’s success.
A special shoutout to Ms. Friends, Ms. Hao Li, Ms. Liedtke, Mr. Gotz, and all the amazing educators across our community. We appreciate you!
