“This session has been one of the most concerning I’ve seen when it comes to government overreach and fiscal irresponsibility. The governor’s proposed budget is filled with unfunded mandates that will slam our local cities and towns with double-digit property tax increases—and that’s simply unacceptable.
As someone who’s served in local government, I know what happens when the state passes the buck: cities are forced to either slash essential services or raise taxes on hardworking Minnesotans just to stay afloat. That’s not leadership. That’s passing the burden onto the people who can least afford it.
As Co-Vice Chair of the Taxes Committee, I’ve been working around the clock to push back on these proposals. My top priority is ensuring that Minnesota families don’t bear the weight of misguided mandates and runaway spending. I’ve fought to protect your paychecks, your property, and your peace of mind.
On the Transportation and State Government Committees, I’ve also worked to make sure infrastructure investments are responsible and that government operates efficiently—not bloated and out of touch.
I’m disappointed that we’re heading into a special session, largely because of delays at the start of session that could have been avoided. But I’m not backing down. I’ll be at the table, pushing for a budget that respects taxpayers and empowers local communities rather than punishing them.
