Dear friends and neighbors on the Iron Range,
Today marks the third and final committee deadline of the session, which is a big milestone as we head toward adjournment on May 19th. Most of the budget work in the House committees is now done, so we’re shifting gears and getting ready to move those budget bills to the House floor for debate and votes. While we’ve cleared some major hurdles, there’s still a lot of work ahead. The final stretch of session is always fast-paced, and this year will be no exception. We’ll be putting in long days and likely some weekends to make sure we stay on track to deliver results for the people we represent.
Next week, we get a brief pause for Easter with no official legislative business in St. Paul. I plan to spend that time back in the district catching up on work and appointments and seeing constituents and family as well. I’ll keep you updated as we push through the final weeks of session upon my return to St. Paul the following week.
RAMS Visit and Meeting
We had an exciting and productive week here at the Capitol, with several Range-focused events and meetings that I truly enjoy being a part of. On Monday, I had the pleasure of meeting with members of the Range Association of Municipalities and Schools (RAMS) and other community members, and it was a fantastic opportunity to connect with folks from the Range. We had in-depth conversations about the issues facing the region and explored how I can best support these efforts moving forward.
A big thank you to the RAMS member communities and board members for their unwavering advocacy on behalf of the Iron Range. Your commitment and dedication to the region are invaluable, and I’m proud to work alongside you to ensure that the Iron Range continues to thrive. These kinds of meetings always remind me of the incredible strength and resilience of our communities, and I look forward to continuing to push for policies that help our region succeed.
 Ranger Party
On Monday evening, the Range Delegation hosted the best event of the year – the Ranger Party! This historic annual gathering, sponsored by a variety of businesses and organizations, is always a highlight for lawmakers, staff, and anyone that can find time to join in while in St. Paul. It’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate our incredible region and have meaningful conversations about the issues that matter most to our communities.
The event is proudly hosted by our Iron Range Delegation, which includes me, Chairman Sen. Rob Farnsworth, Rep. Ben Davis, Vice Chair Rep. Roger Skraba, Rep. Spencer Igo, and Sen. Grant Hauschild. The energy and enthusiasm in the room was palpable, and it’s always inspiring to hear from people who are passionate about the future of our area. I’m grateful for everyone who came out to support the Range and look forward to continuing to work together to make our region stronger.
