Representing Your Backyard: Update from State Representative Andrew Myers
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
We recently held a fantastic town hall with folks from all over the district—and I want to thank everyone who took the time to attend and engage. In a time when media headlines and partisan politics often focus on our divisions, it was encouraging to hear so many people agree on what really matters. The truth is, we’re not as divided as we’re made to believe. We agree on 70 to 80 percent of the issues that impact our daily lives, and that’s where I’m focused.
 Veterans Day at the Capitol
As the proud son of a veteran, I understand that service to our country is a family commitment. I was honored to attend Veterans Day at the Capitol, where I had the chance to highlight several bills I’ve authored that support our veterans and ensure they receive the care and respect they’ve earned.
We can never say “thank you” enough to the brave men and women who have served—and I’ll continue working to ensure our state is doing its part to honor that service.

Transportation Safety: Highway 7 and E-Bike Legislation
One of my top priorities is improving safety across our transportation system, whether that’s for young drivers, pedestrians, or cyclists.
Highway 7 Safety Improvements Too many residents have shared their concerns with me about the dangers of traveling along Highway 7. That’s why I’ve authored HF 2657, which would provide $2.7 million to improve access and safety from Shorewood to Minnetrista. These improvements would help everyone from students and families crossing the street to drivers navigating busy intersections. I’m grateful to work with local engineers and advocates like Ryan Wilson from MnDOT to make this vision a reality.
Protecting Young Riders on E-Bikes As e-bike usage grows, especially among young people, we need to make sure the laws keep up to ensure safe and responsible use. With support from local law enforcement, I’ve introduced HF 2811, which requires minors to wear helmets while operating e-bikes. With some models reaching speeds over 35 miles per hour, this common-sense reform mirrors our existing helmet laws for motorcycles and will help prevent serious injuries while promoting safe active transportation.
Investing in Local Infrastructure for Minnetonka Beach and Long Lake
Our local communities rely on strong, reliable infrastructure. Whether it’s roads, bridges, or clean water systems, these foundational investments are critical to our quality of life and economic future.
With over $8 billion in statewide requests and only about $700 million expected in bonding capacity, I’m continuing to advocate for our district’s highest priority projects. Thank you to Mayor Pagano (Minnetonka Beach) and Mayor Miner (Long Lake) for joining me in testifying at the Capitol this week. Your partnership and leadership help make our case even stronger.
