Legislative Update
Friends and Neighbors,
I hope you are doing well. As always, thank you for staying engaged and active in our community. Whether it's by attending a town hall, reaching out with your ideas, or simply staying informed, your voice truly matters—and it’s making a difference.
Coffee & Conversations – This Saturday!
This weekend, I’d love for you to join me at Mocha Monkey for a Constituents & Coffee Town Hall. We’ll be gathering this Saturday morning to talk about the issues that matter most to you—from education and infrastructure to clean energy and water.
One of my core goals at the Capitol is to return to a culture of public service, where respectful dialogue replaces partisan division. I’ve seen firsthand how strong our community is when we work together to solve problems—and I’m carrying that spirit with me to St. Paul.
Can’t make it Saturday? No problem. You can always reach out by email, phone, or text. I want to hear from you—about your priorities, your questions, and your ideas for building a better Minnesota.

Clean Water, Clean Energy – A Minnesota Priority
Clean, reliable, and affordable resources are the foundation of healthy communities. I’m proud to be carrying forward bipartisan efforts to protect and invest in our clean water and clean energy future.
Thanks to support from our local community and partners across the state, House File 1120—our follow-up to the successful “Keep It Clean” bill—is advancing through the committee process. This legislation will provide more statewide resources to protect Minnesota’s waterways and ensure our outdoor spaces stay clean and safe for future generations.
In addition, I was honored to present a first-in-the-nation clean energy bill supporting agrivoltaics—the combination of agriculture and solar power. This proposal would create a special license plate, with proceeds funding research into reliable, affordable clean energy solutions. By partnering with Minnesota’s farmers, engineers, and business leaders, we can grow our economy in a sustainable and responsible way.

School Breakfast and Lunches
As a dad with kids in public schools and a proud brother to a public-school teacher, I understand the real challenges our education system is facing.
That’s why, as co-chair of the Suburban Solutions Caucus, I presented House File 2201—a pragmatic, balanced plan to address both education funding and student meal access. The bill ensures every student continues to receive breakfast while asking higher-income families—such as a household of four earning over $150,000—to cover their lunch costs. This common-sense change would save over $85 million per year, which would go directly back to schools as Local Optional Revenue (LOR).
That means more flexibility for schools to reduce class sizes, hire teachers, upgrade buildings, and provide classroom resources—without raising taxes.
Instead of pointing fingers, I’m focused on pragmatic solutions that make real improvements in our children’s lives and our schools’ futures.
Keep the Conversation Going
Thank you again for the privilege of serving as your voice at the Capitol. Whether it’s clean water, quality schools, or ensuring our government works for the people—it all starts with you.
Have a safe weekend and please continue to reach out to share your priorities or to hold me or other elected officials accountable. Your voice is what’s most important to me in the work that I do for you, our neighbors, schools, small businesses, seniors, and the next generation.
Sincerely,
|
