Legislative Update
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I hope everyone is having a great week and staying healthy. As your state representative, my priority is making sure your voice is heard at the Capitol. I have put together a short survey to help guide my public service this session and ensure I am working for the solutions that best serve you, our neighbors, and our community. Your feedback is invaluable, and I encourage you to take a moment to share your priorities. Spending a few minutes really helps me to better serve our community.

Access and Affordability in Childcare
With 66 of my colleagues in the House refusing to show up, stifling progress on childcare affordability and accessibility, I have been working hard to deliver real solutions for Minnesota families. Minnesota parents deserve better than political gamesmanship that prevents meaningful action on this critical issue and others.
That’s why I am excited to introduce the updated SSC Building Blocks of Learning Initiative. This plan is focused on expanding childcare access, lowering costs for families, and ensuring our youngest learners have a strong foundation. It also brings in private dollars to address costs, creates more choices, and improves workforce opportunities for parents and families.
As a father of four, I know that the costs of childcare impact all of our families' finances. I hope we can come together to pass meaningful solutions like the Building Blocks of Learning.

Working with Local Leaders on Community Priorities
Good policy starts with listening to all the people we serve, and I want to thank Mayor Ringate for taking the time to discuss Excelsior’s local priorities. From public safety and EMS services to clean water, infrastructure, economic development, and local control of zoning laws, these are issues that directly impact our community, and I am committed to working together with our local leaders.
I also want to thank everyone who attended my recent town hall meeting in Tonka Bay, where we had a great mix of neighbors from all political backgrounds discussing the priorities that matter most, including education, election integrity, property taxes, environment, and over regulation of housing providers and businesses. One of the biggest concerns I continue to hear is the lack of operational knowledge among elected leaders—too many policymakers pass regulations without fully understanding how they impact real people.
That’s why I have hosted over 25 town halls in the past three years—creating solutions that work best when we listen and learn from our community. I will continue holding these events to ensure that your voices—not political insiders—are shaping the policies that impact our daily lives.
Your Input Matters
As we continue through the legislative session, I want to make sure that I am working on your top priorities. Please continue to reach out by phone, text, or email.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your representative. I will continue to show up, listen, and work for our community.
Sincerely,
|
