Representative Jon Koznick Begins Sixth Term, Named Chair of Transportation Committee
SAINT PAUL, MN – Representative Jon Koznick (R-Lakeville) was sworn in and began his sixth term Tuesday as the first session day of the Minnesota House of Representatives got underway. Koznick represents District 57A which includes half of Lakeville, Elko New Market, Credit River, and the townships of Eureka and New Market.
Prior to the start of session, Koznick was appointed to serve on the Capital Investment, State Government Finance and Policy, and Ways and Means Committees. He was also selected to Chair the Transportation Finance and Policy Committee, which will work on key legislation for transportation infrastructure across the state.
“I am honored to continue serving the residents of District 57A and to lead as Chair of the Transportation Finance and Policy Committee,” said Koznick. “Improving Minnesota’s transportation infrastructure is essential for connecting communities, supporting our economy, and ensuring the safety and efficiency of our roadways. This session, I’m committed to advancing common-sense solutions that address our state’s needs while prioritizing affordability and accountability for taxpayers. We will work to more effectively use transportation resources for the most efficient and desired modes to get Minnesotans where they need to be, and maintain the transportation system to ensure the safety of travelers for both pleasure and commerce.”
Republicans also elected Representative Lisa Demuth as Speaker of the House after House Democrats did not show up on day one in an attempt to block any work from being done. Republicans, however, rolled up their sleeves and got to work for the people of Minnesota by convening the House and rolling out six key policy focuses for the next two years. These are:
-
Stop the Fraud: Tackling waste, fraud, and abuse in government programs to restore trust and accountability.
-
Make Minnesota Affordable: Implementing policies to reduce costs for families and businesses.
-
Make Minnesota Safe: Supporting law enforcement and enhancing public safety initiatives.
-
Raise Standards, Reduce Mandates: Improving educational outcomes while reducing burdensome regulations.
-
Minnesota Tax Dollars for Minnesotans: Ensuring taxpayer funds directly benefit Minnesota residents.
-
Build for the Future: Investing in sustainable infrastructure to strengthen the state’s economy and communities.
