Friends and Neighbors,
We had a shorter week at the capitol as everyone headed back to their districts for the Easter and Passover holidays. When we return next week we will start hearing all of the omnibus bills that are headed to the floor. These will be combinations of all of the spending in each department or subject area across state government. It is sad how a number of important and necessary bills will get lumped in with unacceptable proposals to try to gain support by mixing it in with good legislation. As the final bills come up I will look at all of the different pieces to decide what legislation I can support and which are too flush with partisan wish lists to earn my vote.
One thing I will always vote in favor of is freedom. On Tuesday the Center for the American Experiment held their Freedom Rally in the capitol rotunda. The building was filled with patriotic Minnesotans there to stand up for their rights. I had a great time talking with so many individuals who were there to make their voices heard. The event was a great reminder that there is still so much worth fighting for in our great state.
This week the Lessard-Sams Outdoor Heritage Council announced approximately $140 million available for grants to “protect, restore, and enhance habitat for fish, game, and wildlife.” These grants are available to local units of government, Tribal entities, Park & Rec departments, Non-profit organizations, SWCDs, and Watershed Districts. You can find out more and how to apply at their Call for Funding page.
Have a Happy Easter and as always feel free to reach out with any of your legislative concerns.
