Good Government Bills Introduced

Over the first weeks of session, I have introduced bills to address the issues that you, our neighbors, and communities have been talking about and asking me to fix. Over the next few weeks I will share some of these in my updates, and welcome your feedback and comments.

HF 522 requires local governments to make their policies and procedures readily available to the public. The citizens governed by these local units of government should have the right and opportunity to see the rules and procedures that their government follows and enforce on them.

HF 520 reestablishes the SAVI program, allowing the workers at state agencies and campuses that find ways to save money to have 50% of the savings put into an account to spend on things they actually need. The other 50% would be returned to the general fund.

HF 253 would require the Commissioner of Transportation to work with surrounding states to make a plan to cooperate on major storm event responses. This would make for better and quicker responses, help to have specialized equipment available for sharing, and other ways that our states could assist each other in helping their citizens.
