News from St. Paul
This week in St. Paul has been a busy one! I had a number of meetings with various departments and groups. First, I spoke with the Minnesota Department of Education about my bill to get more substitute teachers into classrooms, and the need for more apprenticeships or other opportunities outside of the classroom for students. These are both issues that I worked hard on last year and look forward to continuing to advocate for this session!
I also met with the Department of Transportation about the bridge construction projects in Austin, and concerns about Hwy 218 north between Austin, Blooming Prairie and Owatonna.
Finally, Rachel Berger from Decoding Dyslexia visited to talk about good investments in the science of reading, and how we need literacy interventionists in our school districts. This type of investment, which will help numerous students overcome obstacles to reach their full potential, is the type of targeted investment we should consider when discussing how to spend the surplus.
I speak more about what's been going on in committees and on the House Floor this week in my Mueller Minute video, which you can find on Facebook here!
