Neighbor,
Merry Christmas as we celebrate the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ, by coming together as families to count our blessings and worship the Lord. I hope you’ll take this opportunity to reflect on the true spirit of Christmas and the many gifts we share.
The arrival of the New Year means the Legislature soon will be returning to the Capitol for the Jan. 3 start of 2023 legislative session. A new biennium always means big changes in St. Paul and this year is especially true for me as I prepare to move from the House to the Senate. Anyone who has signed up to receive emails from me (such as this letter) during my time in the House will automatically continue to get them after I join the Senate.
I should note that a new set of legislative districts will go into effect at the start of the session. New boundaries were drawn to accommodate for population changes, a “redistricting” process which takes place once per decade to maintain balance in representation. The state’s “Who Represents Me?” search tool can provide quick clarification for anyone who has questions regarding a particular address.
Before closing, I want to thank the people of the current District 2B for the opportunity to serve them at the Capitol. I look forward to my new position in the Senate as we face a great many challenges during the upcoming session. Much of what we do will revolve around the state’s $17.6 billion surplus. I will continue pushing to give these dollars back to the taxpayers. We have a chance to provide massive tax relief and anything less would be unacceptable.
As always, I will do my best to advocate for the people I represent. Please stay in touch and your input on the issues always is welcome.
-Steve
