Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I hope you all enjoyed your Fourth of July celebrations with family and friends! I spent the weekend helping one of my daughters drive her car to Virginia, where she moved to start her first post-college job. It was fun to drive through so many beautiful and varied parts of our great country and meet a lot of great people along the way. We are so blessed to live in the United States of America!
We have a lot of fun events in our district during the next week and I hope to see many of you out in the community!
Check out the links and join the fun!
Below are some helpful links and updates that I wanted to share regarding Frontline Worker Pay applications, Post-9/11 Veterans Bonuses, and the Employee Retention Tax Credit. Keep reading for details.

Frontline Worker Pay Applications
More than 900,000 Minnesotans have applied for Frontline Worker Pay bonuses. I have heard from several constituents who experienced difficulties with the online application. In my communications with the Dept. of Labor, which is overseeing the applications, they shared these tips for those who are unsure if they successfully submitted their information:
If you are unsure if your application has been successful submitted, you can log into your account to make sure that no further action is required.
Similarly, once the denial messages are sent out to individuals who did not meet the eligibility criteria, individuals will be able to appeal those decisions by logging in to their Submittable accounts and providing other documentation.
Applications are open now through July 22 at 5pm. You can learn more and apply here.

Post 9/11 Veterans Bonuses
I was proud to vote for the Veterans omnibus bill this year to provide bonuses to Minnesota veterans who served our country in the aftermath of 9/11. The applications for those bonuses are now open. Qualified veterans must meet the following criteria:
- Must have had federal active-duty military service between September 11, 2001, and August 30, 2021
- Minnesota must be listed as home of record at time of entry into service
- Veteran must be a Minnesota resident at time of this application
Applications are open now through June 30, 2024, or until the funds are exhausted. I encourage all veterans who qualify to learn more and apply here. Thank you for your service!

Employee Retention Tax Credit
Congress created the Employee Retention Tax Credit (ERTC) in the CARES Act to reward and encourage businesses to keep their employees on their payroll during the COVID shutdowns. The ERTC is a quarterly tax credit for each qualified employee. Businesses who qualify for this tax credit must meet one or both of the following criteria:
- The business was forced to partially or fully suspend or limit operations by a federal, state, or local governmental order.
- The business experienced a 50% decline in gross receipts during any quarter of 2020 versus the same quarter in 2019, and 20% decline in gross receipts in 2021 against the same quarter in 2019.
Business owners can learn more here. I strongly encourage all job providers to work with their payroll provider or CPA to see if they qualify for this tax credit.

Great event celebrating small business leaders at the I-94 West Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Circle of Excelkence Awards! We are blessed to have such caring, hard-working, dedicated leaders investing in our community!
It's always great when I can start my day having coffee with a new constituent!
