Dear Friends and Neighbors,
We are in the final days of the State Fair and students are back or headed back to school — even the cool nights are back! Below are some reminders to hang on to receipts for school supplies to take advantage of tax breaks.
Pray for Our Military and their Families
As events have unfolded in Afghanistan, I hope you will join me in keeping our military and military families in your thoughts and prayers. Next Saturday marks the 20th Anniversary on the September 11th attacks on the United States. We will be forever grateful for the men and women in uniform who have served in order to keep us free and safe — and their families who have sacrificed alongside while they serve.
Thank you to the Minnesota National Guard for their service and we are grateful they are out of harms way. We will forever remember the men and women who have paid the ultimate price, including the 13 soldiers killed at the blast at the Kabul airport last week while protecting the evacuating Americans and our allies. Pray for our heroes.

Back to School Tax Breaks
I wanted to make sure parents know about tax incentives that may allow them to keep more of their hard earned money come tax season. Minnesota has both a credit and a subtraction for education expenses.
Most school supplies qualify for the credit or subtraction, including writing utensils, textbooks, and musical instrument rentals.
To qualify for either program, you must:
Full details about the Education Subtraction and Credit can be found on the Department of Revenue’s website.
