Dear Friends & Neighbors,
The 2021 Special Session will wrap on Wednesday, with the legislature passing the final budget bills, avoiding a state government shutdown while also putting into law an end to the governor's emergency powers. While not every bill was one I could support, it is good that all of the major tax increases and controversial policy pushes from both sides were eliminated from the final agreements. Importantly, the Taxes bill includes the PPP and UI tax relief fixes that will help thousands of Minnesotans.
Read below for information on the funding coming to our community to help improve and make Highway 212 safer. Have a great holiday weekend and I hope to see you around this summer!
Happy Independence Day!

Hwy 212 Funding Passes House
By a vote of 112-21, the Minnesota House has approved legislation that will fund Minnesota’s road and bridge needs for the next two years. I voted for the bill.
We were able to eliminate the $1.6 billion in tax hikes passed by House Democrats in their transportation bill during the 2021 regular session—while increasing the money put into roads and bridges across our state, which is great news for Minnesota’s drivers.
Among the important projects in the bill is funding for expanding Highway 212 from two lanes to four lanes in Carver County. Since being first elected, I have been working to secure funding for Highway 212 and this is a big win—both for driver safety and the convenience of more lanes as our community continues to be one of the fast growing in the state.
This funding will be in addition to the recent work already underway to improve Hwy 212. I am glad we have been able to prioritize these core functions of government without needing to raise taxes.
