Legislative Update
This week I introduced several bills, including one that is close to my heart. HF 973 would establish a Hometown Heroes Assistance Program, which would provide payments to firefighters with cancer or heart disease and provide counseling and training to help them strengthen their health and wellbeing going forward. Our firefighters are true heroes, prepared to face unimaginably difficult situations every single day. This bill is one small way we can say thank you.
My committees have been busy this week, continuing overviews on important topics and hearing a lot of bills. The Housing Finance and Policy committee in particular has heard a lot of bills dealing with renters, as well as a discussion on workforce housing in Greater Minnesota. These are important discussions to be having, and I'm glad to see them happening this early in session.
