Legislative Session Begins
On Monday, I took the oath of office for my third term representing District 2A in the Minnesota House of Representatives. I was unable to attend the swearing in with the rest of my colleagues last week due to a medical procedure that could not be rescheduled.
I am humbled and honored to continue to be a voice for the people of Northern Minnesota. We need to reestablish the voice of the people through the legislature by ending the governor's emergency powers and allowing Minnesota businesses to safely open while getting our students back in school. I will work to make sure your voice is heard at the Capitol.
This session I will serve on the Public Safety and Criminal Justice Reform Finance & Policy Committee and the Judiciary Finance & Policy Committee. These committees will give me the opportunity to continue working on legislation to strengthen Minnesota's laws against child pornography and to protect children from dangerous predators.
I also want to hear from you. Please reach out with any questions, ideas, or suggestions you have. My phone number is 651-296-4265 or you can email me at rep.matt.grossell@house.mn.

What we all witnessed in Washington, DC last week was wrong. What happened in Minneapolis this past summer was also unacceptable. There is no place for violence and criminal activity in our political discourse - on either side, for any reason. This is why I signed on to a letter calling for peaceful protests with every single member of the House Republican Caucus. You can find a copy of the letter here.
The letter reads:
We, the undersigned members of the Minnesota House of Representatives, unequivocally condemn the violence and violent rhetoric at the events in Washington D.C. and Saint Paul on January 6.
Those who participated in criminal destruction of property and assaults on our law enforcement officials at the United States Capitol should be arrested and prosecuted, and those who made threats of violence at the rally in Saint Paul should be investigated and held accountable.
We must all come together and affirm that violence, destruction, and threats — no matter the context — should be condemned and have no place in our political process.
I fully support the Constitutional Rights of every US Citizen but I do not support politically motivated violence or criminal activity. I ask that we all pray for our nation.
