Legislative Update
I was honored this week to be sworn in for another term as State Representative for District 9B. While this session will look different than it has in the past, I look forward to getting to work for the people of our community, and as always I look forward to hearing from constituents about the issues that are most important to them. If you have concerns on a matter relating to state government, please don't hesitate to contact my office.
This week I was also named to three House committees: Education Finance, and Higher Education Finance and Policy, and Ways and Means, and I will serve as the Republican Lead member on the Education Finance Committee.
Updated Governor's Restrictions
On Wednesday, the Governor announced changes to his business and social restrictions, including the following changes:
- Restaurants allowed to reopen indoor dining at 50% capacity.
- Gyms remain open at 25% capacity, with the maximum occupancy raised to 250.
- Outdoor event capacity is raised to 250 at 25% capacity.
- Indoor entertainment and events (bowling alleys, movie theaters, museums, etc.) may open at 25 percent with a cap of 150.
- Youth and adult sports games may resume January 14 with spectators subject to the same indoor entertainment restrictions.
- Pools are open at 25% capacity.
- Wedding receptions and other "private parties" may resume with limits. If food and drink is served there is a limit of two households or 10 people indoors and 3 households/15 people outdoors. If there is no food/drunk, they are covered by the event/entertainment restrictions.
- Churches remain open at 50% but the overall capacity limit has been lifted so there is no maximum.

Statement Against Violence
This week I signed on to a statement with a number of other House Republicans, strongly denouncing the violence and violent rhetoric from the events held in Washington DC and St. Paul last week. The text of the statement is below.
We, the undersigned members of the Minnesota House of Representatives, unequivocally condemn the violence and violent rhetoric at the events in Washington D.C. and Saint Paul on January 6.
Those who participated in criminal destruction of property and assaults on our law enforcement officials at the United States Capitol should be arrested and prosecuted, and those who made threats of violence at the rally in Saint Paul should be investigated and held accountable.
We must all come together and affirm that violence, destruction, and threats — no matter the context — should be condemned and have no place in our political process.
