Special Session Update
Dear Neighbors,
Our latest special session ended early Saturday morning, unfortunately with many things left undone due to demands for more spending from the governor.
After all four caucuses in the House and Senate came to an agreement about how the federal CARES Act money would be distributed to local governments, the governor then demanded the addition of millions of dollars in unrelated spending. In the end, the governor got his way and our local governments, many already in dire straits due to the COVID-19 crisis, got nothing.
I hope that the governor changes his mind and allows the CARES Act funding to be used how it was intended - to help our local governments weather this storm. The money can't do anyone any good just sitting in St. Paul waiting for the Governor to act.
