The governor has again extended his peacetime emergency declaration, and since we were not in session at the time, he was required to bring the legislature back for a special session.
I have heard from many people in our community who are opposed to this expansion of the governor's executive authority. House Republicans brought a resolution during session today to end the governor's peacetime emergency powers, but despite receiving bipartisan support, the resolution unfortunately did not pass.
