Latest Actions from the Governor
Last week, the governor revealed some details about the next phase of his plan for opening the economy.
Phase 2, which will begin June 1, centers around restaurants, bars, and personal services like salons and barbershops. According to the governor, beginning June 1 restaurants and bars are allowed to open for outdoor dining only, with 6 feet between tables, no more than 50 people, and a party size of 4 total, or 6 if it's a family. Reservations are required, staff must wear masks, and customers are strongly encouraged to wear them also, especially when interacting with workers.
Personal care businesses like salons, barbershops, and tattoo parlors will be able to operate at 25% capacity. Masks are required for patrons and workers, and appointments are required.
Campgrounds and charter boats will also be allowed to operate. Campsite configuration must be socially distant, and charter boats must also allow for social distancing unless the occupants are a family.
The governor also came out with more guidance for youth sports, including requirements for creating small group "pods", hosting practices outdoors as much as possible, reminding parents or caregivers that they should not attend practices, keeping interactions contactless, and discouraging sharing equipment, among other requirements.

Churches May Open
Over the weekend, we also heard that the governor is reversing his decision on what Phase 2 will look like for churches, following a massive public outcry and opposition from both the Catholic Church and the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod.
After first announcing that church services would continue to be limited to 10 people, even outdoors, the governor reversed his decision in a press conference Saturday, saying that churches will now be allowed to open at 25 percent occupancy while continuing to follow public health recommendations like sanitizing and social distancing.
