Dear Neighbors,
Legislators returned from our Easter and Passover break this week, ready to take on the final half of the legislative session.
During the break, some of my DFL colleagues joined me in taking advantage of the free time to visit two sites that had previously been awarded funds from past Capital Investment bills.
We started the day at the Harriet Tubman Center, a crucial resource for the region that provides safe shelter, housing, legal services, counseling, youth programming, and other wraparound services.
|
|
We then made it over to North Minneapolis to visit NEON, the Northside Economic Opportunity Network. NEON works to advance the efforts of underserved entrepreneurs in the community, building and supporting Northside businesses owned by lower-income Northside residents. |

Both these stops are prime examples of how the Capital Investment bills can lift up communities and regions in various ways. Now that we’re back at the State Capitol, we’ll begin the process of crafting this year’s bill.
Child Tax Credit Reminder
A final reminder that Tax Day is this upcoming Wednesday, April 15. If you’re still working on your 2025 taxes and have children, please don’t forget about the Child Tax Credit! It is NOT automatic. So far this year, more than 154,000 tax returns have claimed the Child Tax Credit, benefiting over 318,000 children across Minnesota. Families are receiving an average credit of $2,669.

The credit is estimated to reduce child poverty by up to a third in Minnesota, making it one of the most impactful investments DFLers protected amid federal cuts. Learn more about eligibility here.
Stay Connected
Now that we’re back and in the final half of session, now is a great time to touch base. Please reach out with any questions, comments, or ideas you have on how to make North Minneapolis or Minnesota better. My work is at its best when it’s rooted in your needs.
Additionally, my colleagues and I in the House DFL have put together a constituent survey. If you have a brief moment, I’d really appreciate you taking it to let us know about the issues and values most important to you.
You can take our 2026 Constituent Survey here.
As always, you can reach me at rep.fue.lee@house.mn.gov or 651-296-4262.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Fue Lee
State Representative
