Dear Neighbors,
The 2024 legislative session convened on Monday. In this non-budget session, our primary task is to pass a bonding bill. Among other regional projects, I will be advocating for a proposal to transform Aldrich Arena in Maplewood into a multi-purpose facility. Aldrich Arena is a valued public asset and renovating it will ensure more versatility for use by residents of the community and region.
I chair the Human Services Policy Committee, and this session we will focus on how to improve behavioral health access around the state. Partnering with our counties is crucial to keep support networks closer to those in need.
The Metro Purple Line BRT is a 15-mile line between Union Depot in downtown Saint Paul and downtown White Bear Lake generally along Robert Street, Jackson Street, Phalen Boulevard, and White Bear Avenue. The line will connect with existing and future light rail and bus rapid transit service of the METRO system, including direct or close connections to the Green Line, Gold Line, B Line, G Line, and H Line, as well as local and express bus routes. The line will increase accessibility to jobs, housing, and services, thus improving the attractiveness and competitiveness of the east metro area. You can get updates by clicking here.
