Neighbors,
The legislative session has wrapped and in this most consequential year, we made a difference for many families to help afford their lives. Our historic investments in education, clean energy, and higher education were topped off with the biggest tax cut in state history. In addition, we made safety a priority by passing two gun violence safety measures, protected a woman’s right to choose and legalized adult use cannabis.
I am especially proud of our commitment to fund a transformational education bill. In the legislature, we are charged with leaving Minnesota better for our kids, and as chair of the Education Policy committee, our budget will positively impact our students and educators for generations.
You can read about all the budget bills in these non-partisan Session Daily summaries: Veterans and Military Affairs, Housing, Higher Education, Legacy, Agriculture, Early Education, Public Safety and Judiciary, K-12 Education, Jobs and Labor, Environment and Energy, Commerce, State Government and Elections, Human Services, Taxes, Transportation, Health, Capital Investment, Cannabis, and Paid Family and Medical Leave.
Also yesterday, the House and Senate both approved the bipartisan Capital Investment package of legislation investing in jobs and infrastructure projects throughout the state. I am pleased the Opus Public Space project is included in the infrastructure bill. This project will help our community live, work and recreate in a space designed with intention and innovation.
The bill contains a grant to the City of Minnetonka for the project.
Having passed both the House and Senate, the bills now head to Governor Walz for his anticipated signature. Video of today’s floor debate can be found on the House Public Information YouTube channel.
