Good afternoon,
Today at 4:30pm, Minnesota’s adult-use cannabis proposal will complete a series of 12 public hearings that began in February. Live video is available at www.house.mn/live/1. The next step is to schedule a vote on the House floor before the Legislature’s May 17th constitutional adjournment.
The reason we’ve come this far is because you helped us get here. Minnesotans decided to contact their state lawmakers, share information on social media, testify in public hearings, and attend town hall meetings. You got engaged and you got organized.
Thank you for helping Minnesota reach this historic milestone. At the beginning of the year, a House committee had never passed a legalization bill. Now, we’re on the verge of passing a bill off the House floor.
Starting today, we’re getting active on social media using the hashtag #LegalizeMN to organize and amplify our voices. State lawmakers are paying attention and need to hear from Minnesotans over the next week more than ever. Getting engaged right now is the most important thing you can do to move this bill across the finish line.
Thank you again for getting Minnesota to this unprecedented stage in our history. We have the ability to change laws in a way that improves people’s lives, whether it’s expunging cannabis-related records, targeting economic opportunity for those impacted most by the war on drugs, providing relief for veterans suffering from PTSD and serious health conditions, and more.
Stay tuned for an update about the date and time of the House floor vote and how you can get engaged.
Sincerely,
Ryan Winkler Minnesota House Majority Leader
