Neighbors,
It was another great week at the Capitol getting a head start on some issues that are going to be a legislative priority for me and our community in the upcoming legislative session -- including meetings focused on the public safety and economic development aspects of legalizing cannabis.
Water Gremlin Update
I continue to work with community members and other elected officials to address Water Gremlin’s numerous violations and to protect Minnesotans from exposure to dangerous chemicals. Ramsey County has a new webpage with information and resources for Water Gremlin employees who need assistance and have questions. The county has been hosting information sessions at the Vadnais Sports Center.
Translation assistance is available for employees who need assistance in a language other than English. Free blood tests for lead are available for Water Gremlin employees and their families. Ongoing employment services are available at CareerForce North St. Paul, 2266 2nd St. N., North St. Paul, MN 55109.

Wishing my Colleague the Best
Representative Tim Mahoney, who has served the other half of our State Senate District for 22 years, announced this week that he will retire at the end of his term. I am proud to have served alongside him in advocating for the East Side, and in passing his bill to enact the toughest wage theft law in the nation.
I thank him for his many years of service as he embarks on his last session with us in the Minnesota House this year. His leadership has been inspiring to Eastsiders like myself.

Heading to Worthington
Today I'm heading to Worthington, Minnesota to discuss the November 5 school referendum with the immigrant community and local officials. Tuesday’s vote will be the sixth time in as many years that the school district will ask voters to approve funding to expand the schools.
The school referendum was profiled in a Sept. 22 Washington Post article, which highlighted the tension between some white residents and the immigrant community in Worthington, which has received more unaccompanied minors per capita than almost anywhere else in the country.
I will also visit Southeast Asian leaders with Assistant Majority Leader Fue Lee to discuss immigration and school funding.
Election Day
It's important to exercise our right to vote. Check Ramsey County’s elections webpage for information on candidates and issues. If you are not registered to vote, you can do so at your polling place or online at the Secretary of State’s website. Early voting is available now through Monday. Locations and times can be found here.
There are important items on the ballot no matter where you live in our district, including school board races, city council races, and St. Paul trash collection.
I appreciate hearing your feedback, so please don’t hesitate to share any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Rep. Jay Xiong
