“Hands of time” stop on iconic Minneapolis City Hall clock — time for a check-up

WHAT
Minneapolis City Hall’s iconic clock will stop ticking so engineers can assess its condition for any needed repairs or parts replacements. Rising to 345 feet, the clocktower is a landmark feature of the building, a late-nineteenth century treasure listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Each of the tower’s four clockfaces measures approximately 23.5 feet in diameter, rivaling London’s Big Ben in size. The job is expected to take several days and the clock should start telling time again by Friday.

WHEN
Monday, January 19
6:30 a.m  clock stops
9:00 a.m. (approximately) engineering crew rappels down the clock tower
