News release
The Hennepin County Board of
Commissioners is seeking applicants for two vacancies on the Nine Mile Creek
Watershed District Board, due to expiration of terms of office on Sept. 29 for Corrine
Lynch and Jodi Peterson. Lynch has served on the board since 1999 and is unsure
if she is seeking reappointment. Peterson has served on the board since 2011
and is seeking reappointment.
This
board coordinates the management of water and related land resources in the
watershed. The cities of Hopkins,
Bloomington, Edina, Richfield, Eden Prairie and Minnetonka have land within the district. Because
of the nature of the board, it is helpful for members to have a background in
water conservation, development, law, engineering, environment or public
administration. Members serve three-year terms.
The
deadline for applications is Aug. 29 with interviews to be held at the
following board committee meeting on Sept. 9.
A
Watershed District Board member may not be a public officer of the county,
state or federal government and must be a resident of the district. Board
members serve three-year terms. Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each
month at 7:30 p.m. at Edina City Hall.
