HealthPartners Members Data Privacy Breach

To all employees,

We have been notified by HealthPartners of a data privacy breach that affects approximately 38,000 HealthPartners members. Of the affected members, it is estimated that 1,656 are Hennepin County employees and dependents. HealthPartners describes the data breached as information gathered through member satisfaction surveys.

HealthPartners is planning to issue a public statement to the media at 1:00 p.m. this afternoon (Friday, March 21, 2014). Additionally over the next few days, each of the affected members will receive a letter at their last known address. A copy of this letter is attached which details information about the breach and how HealthPartners intends to support the affected members.

HealthPartners states that there is no evidence that any of this information has been used maliciously. HealthPartners has set up a dedicated phone line to handle inquires related to this data breach. You may call HealthPartners at 1-866-263-4159 if you have any questions.
