Grissom, an HCSO Narcotics K9, has retired after nine years of service to the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office. His deputy partner will keep him at home and he will spend his retirement as a family pet.
He is credited with the seizure of approximately 3,349.32 lbs of marijuana, 28 lbs of methamphetamine, 1.5 lbs of heroin, 127 lbs of cocaine, 4.1 lbs of crack cocaine, 209 grams of mushrooms, 135.5 grams of hash, and 1,839 tabs of ecstacy, as well as $2,249,700 in US currency.
Grissom and his deputy partner have also received numerous awards and letters of commendation from other Metro area agencies that they have helped, as well as the United States Police Canine Association. One of his most memorable cases -- after a suspect hid cocaine in a neighborhood, Grissom found the hidden drugs by digging with his paw in the dirt of a flowerbed.
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office has created a new Community Engagement Team to expand outreach efforts in diverse communities and directly address public safety concerns of the residents.
The Community Engagement Team will enhance the community policing program that was launched several years ago. Team members also provide training to members of law enforcement about working with diverse communities. With a focus on diverse communities, the Community Engagement Team will address the concerns of residents, nonprofit groups, service providers, private businesses, educators, and others.

The long Minnesota winter is finally letting go of its grip. Please remember that no ice is ever completely safe. During the spring months, remind your family members not to venture out onto the ice -- which is slowly melting with warmer temperatures. The Sheriff's Office would like to thank Clear Channel Outdoor for being an outstanding partner in public safety. The company provided electronic billboards and created a compelling image to encourage ice safety. The message appeared on several billboards throughout the metro area.
