Green Partners highlight
The following organization received funding through the Hennepin County Green Partners program. Organizations receive training, support, and funding to implement projects that engage residents to learn about, protect, and improve the environment.
4-H Youth Climate Leaders at the Hennepin County Government Center
 Youth from Ella Baker Global Humanities Magnet School, Franklin STEAM Middle School, and Sanford Middle School, visited the Hennepin County Government Center in May as part of their 4-H environmental learning and capacity building Green Partners project. Thank you to Commissioners Conley and Fernando and the Climate and Resiliency Department for taking the time to talk to the youth about the county's environmental work.

The pamphlets can be used to educate your audiences about building bird and bat houses, providing food and water sources for backyard bird populations, and supporting migrating birds and bats. Consider using these during birding classes, native plant restoration field experiences, or as a take-home material after nature hikes
The Minnesota Department of Health is offering free trainings about school indoor air quality (IAQ). In-person and virtual training options are available. Training will cover requirements and best practices for school IAQ. School staff (including charter and non-public schools), service providers, government officials, and others are welcome to attend. Continuing education credits are offered for certain credentials.

 This June, 53 people representing 17 organizations that are implementing Green Partners projects came together to network and attend wellness sessions.
An inspiring panel of youth in environmental education and leadership programming was a highlight of the day. Youth panelists from EcoAlpha, MIGIZI, Minnesota Swahili Christian Congregation, and Strong Mind Strong Body presented about their experiences.
Sessions included meaningful environmental messaging and activities. County staff also organized a supply swap for attendees to sustainably share resources.

North American Association for Environmental Education Conference
October 6 to 9 in Portland, Oregon

Wisconsin Association for Environmental Education Conference
November 5 to 7 in Green Bay, Wisconsin
The Wisconsin Association for Environmental Education (WAEE) is hosting a conference at three venues in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The theme is The Craft of Connection: Nature, Community, & Food. WAEE conference and session proposal details. Registration will open soon.
Minnesota Naturalists’ Association Conference
November 13 to 15 at Osprey Wilds Environmental Learning Center in Sandstone
The 2026 Minnesota Naturalists’ Association (MNA) Conference theme is Vintage MNA. The conference will feature keynote speakers, field trips, and a silent auction and raffle. Registration will open in September. MNA conference details.
