The Westonka Library project marks a bold new chapter for the west metro community, reimagining the library as a modern, sustainable hub for learning, creativity and connection.
Located on the site of the former library in Mound, the new facility will feature flexible spaces for all ages, including an early learning area for families, meeting rooms for students and community groups, and enhanced access to technology. The design reflects strong community input and emphasizes natural light, native landscaping and a seamless connection to the outdoors.
Sustainability is central to the project. The new Westonka Library is being built as a net-zero energy facility, powered by on-site renewable energy sources such as rooftop solar and geothermal systems. The site will also preserve mature trees, manage 92% of stormwater on-site, and divert 75% of construction waste from landfills.
Once complete, the Westonka Library will serve as a welcoming destination for residents of Mound, Minnetrista, Spring Park and surrounding communities.
