Hi Neighbors! As Juneteenth is approaching, I wanted to share with you some amazing events that are happening in our community and around Hennepin County.
What is Juneteenth?
Juneteenth is a nationally celebrated holiday that commemorates of the ending of slavery in the United States. The recognition and celebration of Juneteenth (June 19th) marks the day when Union Soldiers, in 1865, arrived in Galveston, Texas to spread the news that the Civil War had ended, and that enslaved people were now free.
This holiday is a time for communities to come together and celebrate the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States.
Take a look below to find events and ways you could enjoy the holiday with your friends and family!
As always, please reach out with questions, comments, or to learn more about how to get involved.
