Commissioner Anderson in the Community

The best days at my job are when I get to spend time with the communities I represent. Check out what I've been up to so far this month:

Anderson & Hoffman

Thanks to Senator Hoffman and all of the legislators I met with this session.

With the regular legislative session now over and a potential special session on the way, my colleagues and I have been working hard to advocate for our residents and services at the Capitol.

Meeting w/ Councils & Legislators

A special shout out to Representatives Nadeau, Carroll, and Bahner for joining the meeting.

Speaking of the legislative session, earlier this month I hosted a meeting with city council members in my district to discuss the impact of the budgets that were proposed by the Minnesota House and Senate.

2025 State of the County

At this year's State of the County address, Chair Fernando highlighted the amazing work the county has done over the last year. A very sincere thanks to all of the county staff and partners who make Hennepin County Government's work possible. I'm looking forward to everything we will do together in the year to come.

Dayon Tree Planting

The warmer weather means Hennepin County's Forestry team is out in full force! This month, I stopped by a tree planting operation in Dayton where about 100 trees and 5,000 seedlings were planted.

MMCD on the Hill

The Metropolitan Mosquito Control District - of which I am on the board - visited the Capitol this month to share their work with legislators and staff. MMCD staff had live larvae, staff experts, a drone and a helicopter on display. To learn more about MMCD, click here.

Dayton Open House

The City of Dayton had a great Open House event last week, with kids activities and opportunities for residents to learn about the city's work. Hennepin County's Elevate Hennepin program joined the event to chat with residents about the program's assistance for entrepreneurs and business owners, and I also got to chat with representatives from our Champlin and Rogers libraries!

National Police Week

Honoring our Police and Peace Officers during National Police Week

Last week during National Police Week, we honored those who bravely serve their communities.

On Thursday, the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office had the solemn honor of standing guard at the Law Enforcement Memorial at the MN State Capitol - a powerful reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication of those who gave their lives in the line of duty.

Minnesota Law Enforcement Memorial Association (LEMA) members Lieutenant Hernke and Sergeant Petrone and the HCSO Honor Guard joined the annual ceremony to pay respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice, their families, and their agencies. Lt. Hernke and Sgt. Petrone walked the thin, blue line to present arms in reverence to The Old Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier while our Honor Guard presented wreaths honoring the fallen peace officers and stood guard during the powerful tribute.

Though we have lost the fallen heroes, their sacrifices will never be forgotten, and their legacies will live on in the lives they touched, the communities they served, and the families that shared them with us.

Emergency Management
