We’re excited to help you be part of the solution to create a world with less plastic!
During the challenge, which runs February 1 to 28, we will send three short emails per week to share resources, tips for action, and steps to take to build new habits. Each week will dig into a different plastic-free category.
Before we get started, here are some tips to make the most of your experience and resources to encourage others to join you.
Now that you've signed up, take a few moments to set up your dashboard.
Add a profile picture, profile banner image, and mission statement. Post a message to the feed about how you're feeling about the upcoming challenge, recruit additional participants to join you, and browse the categories and actions. You get points for each of these actions.
See our tips for getting started with the Plastic-Free Challenge (PDF) for more information. We'll share more tips next week on selecting actions.
One of the first things we recommend doing after signing up for the challenge is to look at the resources page. Find it by clicking the dropdown menu on the “About” tab. Here you will find video tutorial on using the website as well as resources to help you promote the challenge and start a team.
Encouraging others to join
Everything is more fun with a little friendly competition! Recruit a friend, family member, or coworker to experience the challenge with you. You can swap stories and tips as you work toward your chosen actions.
Download the media kit (DOCX) for resources to promote the challenge to others - including newsletter articles, posters, social media posts, and graphics.
The challenge is live February 1 through 28, and people can sign up anytime between now and the end of the challenge.
Starting and engaging a team
If you want to take a leading role, consider being a team captain! Find video tutorials on creating, joining, and managing teams and team captain tips (PDF) on the resources page to learn how to create and manage a team and invite people from your networks to join.
Get an organization you know to become a Plastic-Free Challenge partner
Businesses, community groups and other organizations can also get involved with recruitment and engagement in the challenge by becoming Plastic-Free Challenge partner. Find more information on the partner page.
We are excited to invite Plastic-Free Challenge participants to attend these upcoming events. Find a list of all events here.
