Reminder - This Week: Truth in Taxation Hearing and Opioid Summit

I’m passing along a couple of reminders for Hennepin County events this week! I hope you are all staying warm!

Hennepin County budget (Truth in Taxation) meeting is Dec. 3

Hennepin County will hold a public meeting on the proposed 2025 budget and property tax levy – commonly called the truth in taxation meeting – on Tuesday, December 3 at 6 p.m.

Free parking will be available in the Government Center garage located on 3rd Avenue South between South 6th Street and South 5th Street.

All skyways close at 8 pm. If you do not park in the ramp, you may enter the building through the North entrance across from the light rail.

Public Comment

Residents are invited to express their opinions on the proposed budget and property taxes as well as the budget and property tax levy of the Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority and the Hennepin County Housing and Redevelopment Authority.

The following methods for making public comment are available:

  • In-person at the Truth in Taxation meeting
  • Pre-record a comment:
    • Call 612-688-4455 on Monday, December 2. The comment line will be open between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
    • Leave a voicemail message with your comments.
    • Comments are limited to less than two minutes in length.
    • Only your name and city will be shared at the meeting; your phone number will be redacted and will not be played.
  • Submit pre-written comments by email to budgetcomments@hennepin.us

Opioid Summit on Dec. 5

Hennepin County, along with the cities of Minnetonka, Eden Prairie, Edina, Hopkins, and St. Louis Park, are hosting an Opioid Summit. Residents will learn about opioids and resources to keep their families and community safe. The event is intended for residents of those cities, but anyone is welcome to attend. 

Naloxone training will be provided. There is no cost to attend, and lunch will be provided.
