Dr. Krishnan Subrahmanian, chief medical officer for Hennepin Health, is available to share practical and helpful advice with your audience as they attempt to better understand their options during this annual period of open enrollment.
”Dr. Krish” knows the importance of health insurance but also understands how confusing it can be during the brief window when Minnesotans can switch plans. It can feel especially complex for those who are eligible for the public health insurance options of Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare.
“We want everyone to understand how these programs help our neighbors reclaim health and benefit our community,” says Dr. Krish. “Finding, choosing, enrolling, and switching health insurance plans is so important and we can help.”
Dr. Krish is available for interviews—in-person, in studio, on Zoom or over the phone.
Dr. Krish and his colleagues recently developed a 4-part podcast that helps Minnesotans understand and navigate Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare.
In the podcasts Dr. Krish answers basic questions: Who is eligible for Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare? What are the benefits? How can people sign up and switch plans? He talks to community members who’ve used the programs and experts like Dr. Nathan Chomilo, Minnesota Dept of Human Services medical director for Medicaid and Medical Assistance.

Dr. Krishnan Subrahmanian biography
Dr. Krish is a board-certified pediatrician and chief medical officer for Hennepin Health, a community health plan. He practices medicine at Hennepin Healthcare, is an assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Minnesota and a flight surgeon in the Minnesota Air National Guard.
The son of Indian immigrants, Dr. Krish lives in Hennepin County with his wife and children. He enjoys giving piggy-back rides, singing to his kids, running, and “wallowing in my fate as a tortured Minnesota sports fan.”
Dr. Krish is a credible and down-to-earth expert on children’s health and wellness and a frequent contributor to local media reports on topics ranging from baby formula shortages to racial health disparities to COVID-19.
