Dear District 6 residents,
Over the past week, you likely have heard the news about the proposal to increase commissioner salaries by 49 percent. Last week, when the proposal was before a committee, I voted against it– stating that it was far too large and we should instead take an increase that is more in line with labor.
Today, I want to update you that the proposed commissioner salary increases and countywide elected salary increases were sent back to committee for further debate, amendments, and public input.
I believe that the County Board should support an increase to make our County Sheriff and County Attorney salaries competitive and reflective of the fact that we are the most-populated county in Minnesota.
I also believe that commissioner compensation needs to be approached in a way that is representative of our County employees as a whole.
