Swaps are popping up all over Hennepin County! These community events are becoming more popular each year. They’ve been around for years as sales throughout the state, but new types of swaps organized by cities and community groups are often smaller, offered for a short time, and are typically free of charge, both to attend the event and to take items being offered. Be sure to check out specifics of the event you want to attend so you know what to expect!
Be sure to check your city’s calendar periodically throughout the year for upcoming swaps, city cleanups, composting workshops, and household hazardous waste events.
Edina community clothing swap
Thursday, May 9 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Braemar Arena, 7501 Ikola Way, Edina
Join Edina’s popular, free, and fashionably fun clothing swap! The clothing swap is open to everyone. Participants are encouraged to bring clothing to swap with other people, but no donation is required to join and everything is free to take items home. Add the event to your calendar.
Minneapolis garden tool swap
Saturday, May 11 from 9 a.m. to noon at seven Minneapolis parks
Minneapolis Solid Waste and Recycling and community partners are gearing up for the fourth annual citywide swap event of garden tools and plant related equipment at seven Minneapolis parks. From first time gardeners to those with green thumbs, all are welcome at this free event. Find a list of event locations.
St. Louis Park gardening swap
Tuesday, May 21 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the St. Louis Park Rec Center, 3700 Monterey Drive, St. Louis Park
Attend the swap to clear out items you no longer use and take home new treasures. The event is free and open to everyone! No items may be sold; everything must be given and taken freely. A limit of five boxes can be brought to the swaps.
