Last month, I joined other government and non-profit leaders (including Project for Pride in Living) at the groundbreaking of Shelby Commons in North Loop. Hennepin County will provide five Housing Supports to subsidize rents and also supportive services.

Exciting news! Hennepin County has finalized its Zero Waste Plan. The plan was developed with extensive public feedback over 1 1/2 years from more than 1,800 participants. A huge thank you to all that gave their time and input to create and improve the plan.

I had a wonderful time at the Hmong Community's Celebrate Your Parks Day last month! This event was organized with the help of Hennepin County's Asian Connections ERG (Employee Resource Group), Brooklyn Center, Three Rivers Park District & more.
Thanks so much to Asian Connections and all the other event organizers for the invitation and for hosting such a community-centric event.

Text reads, "Blue Line Extension Anti-Displacement Executive Summary. Hennepin County and CURA (Center for Urban and Regional Affairs) logos." Graphic of residents building their commercial corrridor, done by a local artist.
We know that the ADWG Report is long (it's over 200 pages!) This is why Hennepin County's wonderful communications staff have written a 14-page executive summary, complete with amazing graphics from local artists we contracted.
**READ IT on the yourblueline website's "Anti-displacement recommendations report" webpage, under "Summary handouts."
Opioid Tracking Dashboard
 Screenshot of the dashboard.
Earlier this summer, The Minnesota Electronic Health Record (MN EHR) Consortium and Hennepin County launched a new data dashboard that monitors the opioid and substance use crisis in Hennepin County.
This interactive, online report shows substance-involved emergency and hospital visits of Hennepin County residents. It uses real-time electronic health record data, updated monthly.
911 Dispatch - now hiring!
White man at a 911 dispatcher station.
Did you know there is a 911 dispatcher shortage? This is a nationwide problem. Hennepin County has a vacancy rate between 20% - 25%, which is causing long wait times. However, the average starting pay is $28/hour, with wages going up to $44/hour depending on experience.
The Minnesota Emergency Communication Networks division, in partnership with the Minnesota Sheriffs' Association, has launched a campaign to attract new recruits.
Two RFPs are now open that make vacant Hennepin County Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA)-owned land in Minneapolis available for affordable housing development.
The properties are located on:
- Lyndale Avenue South in the Windom neighborhood
- Lowry Avenue North in the Hawthorne neighborhood
- Shingle Creek Drive in the Lind-Bohanon neighborhood
