Greetings! We hope our newsletter serves as a resource for
staying connected to Hennepin County activities and staying updated on county
news and services.
As always, please reach out with questions, comments, or to
learn more about how to get involved.
Social services is my life’s work! I am grateful for opportunities that allow me to further shape the improvement of services and care to our youngest and their families. Earlier this summer, I was appointed to the Governor's Children's Cabinet. Thank you Governor Walz, Lt. Governor Flanagan and team for this appointment, I look forward to leading in this great capacity.
The National Black Police Association MN Chapter, along with the Hennepin County Sherriff’s Office and Minneapolis Police Department, are hosting a school supply donation drive. Together, they are looking to collect as many backpacks, school supplies and supplies for teachers as possible to give back to the community and help families start the school year off.
Mark your calendars – school supply distribution dates:
All supplies collected will be distributed to the public at two distribution events in Minneapolis. Each distribution event is from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
- 8/16: 3210 Oliver Proverbs Christian Fellowship
- 8/23: 310 E St. Sabathani Community Center
Stop food waste, save money, feed your family, become a better cook, fight climate change!
We love food, which leaves us wondering: why do we let so much of it go to waste? About 40% of food is wasted somewhere along the supply chain, and you may be surprised to learn that much of that food waste happens at home.
Food waste costs each of us a significant amount of money, not to mention the resources that go into producing and transporting our food. By taking the Stop Food Waste Challenge, we can save money, fight climate change, provide for our families, and improve our cooking skills.
The challenge goes from August 1 through August 31. Join the challenge now at stopfoodwaste.ecochallenge.org.
