Millions of Minnesotans rely on Medicaid for their health insurance, but eligible residents risk losing their coverage if they don’t take action to re-enroll.
“Help us protect people who are covered by Medicaid by reaching out and letting them know their options to access health coverage. If you get a form in the mail, fill it out and return it immediately.”
That was the message U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra personally delivered during a visit to North Point Health and Wellness Clinic this week hosted by senior leaders from Hennepin County and the State of Minnesota.
With the end of the pandemic, Medicaid eligibility has returned to its pre-pandemic rules, and is imperative that eligible residents reapply for Medicaid coverage to continue to receive their benefits. The visit from Secretary Becerra underscores the urgency of this issue and helps us to get the word out to our residents.
Between Hennepin Healthcare, our County-owned health plan, the NorthPoint Health and Wellness Clinic, and many other programs, Hennepin County is taking a proactive approach—coordinating efforts across our systems to meet residents where they are at to get the word out. NorthPoint Clinic is a unique health provider that serve Minneapolis’ North Side in partnership between Hennepin County and a Community Board of Directors comprising NorthPoint’s patients and people who live and/or work in the community.
It was an honor to join my fellow Hennepin County Commissioners to welcome Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra to Minnesota for this visit.

"Helping Hennepin County residents connect to tools, resources and solutions to strengthen their mental health is the goal of a new year-long campaign called See Mental Health. The campaign also aims to normalize talk about mental health, reducing the stigma that can get in the way of seeking help or support."
