This month has been a busy one as our office has trekked across the district to attend community and local government events. Here's a rundown of what we've been up to.
In the last 30 days alone, I've given a Hennepin County update at the council meetings of Independence, Maple Grove, Minnetrista, Dayton, Rogers, Mound. St. Bonifacious and Greenfield. I also had the pleasure of joining community members for a tour of the Westonka Historical Museum in Mound. Did you know that Tonka Trucks, the toy company, was founded in right here in Mound?
In early March, my staff and I were given a tour of the Lee Carlson Center for Mental Health & Wellness, where we got to sit down with the CEO and CDO to discuss the mental health crisis in schools and in the community.

As part of the Elevate Hennepin Program, I gave a welcome address to attendees of the newest CEO Now cohort. We love the programming from the Elevate Hennepin initiative because we know that small businesses are the backbone of our county.
Along the same lines, I joined the Office of the State Auditor's office for The State of Main Street listening session in Minneapolis. The Auditor and panelists discussed local and statewide trends and what that means for Minnesotans.
To celebrate International Women’s Day, our staffer Clara Severson attended an event hosted by the Indian Association of Minnesota called What It Means to be a Black or Brown Woman in America.
Because we can't forget about pie day, aka March 14th, I stopped by the Plymouth Community Center for some french silk and apple pie.
We’re excited to continue our community engagement work as winter comes to a close!

I had the opportunity to stop by the CCX studio to chat about Hennepin County's Zero Waste Plan. Watch the clip here: Newsmakers: Hennepin County Commissioner Kevin Anderson Touts ‘Zero Waste Plan’ - CCX Media
Our office is so excited to partner with Representative Kristin Bahner of Maple Grove to host a town hall meeting. I hope you'll join us to talk about the progress we've made and the work that still needs to be done in our community.
Date: April 1st, 2023 Location: Maple Grove Library, 8001 Main Street North, Maple Grove Time: 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

If the property information on your valuation notice is not correct, you disagree with the values, or have other questions about this notice, you may appeal. Start with your assessor as often issues can be resolved by reaching out directly to your assessor. Their number is listed on the valuation notice.
Do you still have concerns? Attend a local meeting. If your issues weren’t resolved by talking to your assessor, you can either attend a local board of appeal and equalization meeting or continue having an “open book” conversation with assessing staff. Each city chooses which meeting format they prefer (the front of your valuation notice will tell you which option your city has chosen).
Local Board of Appeal and Equalization Meetings Property owners may appear in front of the local board of appeal and equalization to dispute their valuation or classification. The date and time of the meeting is located on your valuation notice.
Open Book Meetings During an open book meeting, property owners can address questions about their property valuation and classification directly with assessing staff. If your city has opted for an open book meeting, the in-person meeting will be held at one of five locations. Choose the location that best fits your schedule.
