In-person tutoring is now available at 16 Hennepin County Library locations. The K-12 Homework Help program is a free in-person tutoring program. Trained tutors work one-on-one or in small groups with students to support them in completing their assignments as they learn in a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment. No advance sign-up needed. For a list of locations and times, see the tutors at the library schedule.
Students in grades K-12 can also receive free one-on-one live online tutoring assistance every day of the week from 1-11 p.m. (with their library card) in English or in Spanish. Students can also submit their essays on HelpNow and get feedback within one to two days. Find instructions on using HelpNow in English and subtitled in Spanish. For more details, see Tutors online.
We asked Hennepin County Library staff for what picture books, chapter books, graphic novels, and young adult fiction books they read and loved in 2022. Check out the staff reviews of their favorite 2022 reads!

Black History Month, or African American History Month, is celebrated nationally each year during February. It is a time to highlight the contributions and achievements of African American individuals and communities, as well as their struggles for freedom and equality in the United States.
Library staff have curated several book lists for youth on the topic of Black history and culture:
